Fall 2026
「Japan Intensive 2026」では、日本独自の文化や心、言語に寄り添う教会開拓者を育成するため、「組織的リーダーシップ」「神学的相違の乗り越え方」「神学的ビジョン・ステートメントの作成」という3つの新しいモジュールを導入します。全38モジュールとなったこのプログラムを通じて、リーダーたちは複雑な宣教の現場に対応するための神学的ビジョンと識別力を身につけていきます。同時に、今年の研修ではティム・ケラーとジョン・トーマスが掲げた原点へと立ち返り、成人学習を単なる補助手段ではなく核となる手法として再定義します。これにより、ファシリテーターの役割は「前に立つ神学者」から「聖霊が働かれる場を整える存在」へと変化します。従来の講義形式から離れることに違和感を覚えるかもしれませんが、その心地よい変化こそが深い文脈化と成長をもたらします。日本の文脈に根ざしたリーダーをともに育成するために、祈り、ささげ、シェアすることでCity to City Japanのパートナーとなってください。
To equip church planters to respond authentically to Japan's unique culture and heart, Japan Intensive 2026 is expanding its training curriculum with three essential new modules: Organisational Leadership, Navigating Theological Differences, and Crafting a Theological Vision Statement. Bringing the total offering to 38 modules, this expanded approach provides leaders with the divine wisdom, discernment, and robust theological grounding necessary to navigate complex ministry landscapes. Grounded in this expanded framework, the program also returns to the foundational vision set by Tim Keller and John Thomas, placing adult learning principles at the core of its methodology rather than treating them as an afterthought. This transition intentionally shifts the facilitator’s role from "the theologian at the front" to a guide who creates space for the Holy Spirit to move. While stepping back from traditional teaching can feel unfamiliar, embracing this intentional discomfort fosters deeper contextual transformation. ネットワークから運動へ：地域を越えた協働の推進
From Networks to Movements: Advancing Collaboration Across Japan
日本は、福音のために働く人々が各地にいる一方で、その人々がまだ十分につながっていない国だと感じています。 この四半期、神は私に、日本を「教会が少ない国」としてだけではなく、すでに各地で忠実に働いている人々がおり、その人々をつなぎ合わせる余地が大きくある国として見るように導いてくださいました。 4月以降、全国各地の約80名以上の方々と会い、牧師、教会開拓者、宣教師、宣教・教会リーダーなど、それぞれの場所で日本のために働いている方々と話す機会がありました。 その中で、多くの方々が純粋にこの国を愛し、日本のために何かをしたいという願いを持っていることが見えてきました。そして今期、特にその地域のために共に祈ることの大切さを強く感じるようになりました。
Japan is a nation where many people are faithfully working for the Gospel in different places, yet many of them are still not deeply connected with one another. This quarter, God has been leading me to see Japan not simply as a nation with few Christians or churches, but as a nation where He is already at work through many faithful people—and where there is a great opportunity for these people to become more connected. Since April, I have met with nearly 80 pastors, church planters, missionaries, and ministry leaders across Japan. Through these relationships, I have seen that many people genuinely love Japan and carry a desire to see the Gospel advance in this country. This quarter, God has especially been showing me the importance of praying together for each city and region, not simply connecting people with one another.
全国のさまざまな地域で、教会開拓や福音宣教に対する願いを持って働いているリーダーたちがいることを感じています。 沖縄や名古屋のような既存のCTCJネットワーク都市では、これまで築かれてきた関係をさらに深めると同時に、新しいリーダーとの出会いも与えられました。また、静岡や埼玉では、新たなリーダー個人との関係が始まり、それぞれの地域での教会開拓や、リーダー同士のつながりについて話す機会が生まれています。 同時に、多くの地域で、教会やリーダーがそれぞれの場所で忠実に働いている一方、地域の中で互いにつながり、祈り合う機会にはまだ大きな余地があることも見えています。 特に8月以降、これまでの「つながる」という関係から一歩進み、教会開拓、その地域の教会やリーダー同士の横のつながり、そしてその地域のネットワークのために、実際に共に祈り始めています。 これはまだ始まったばかりで、現在進行形です。しかし、神がすでに各地に置いておられる人々を少しずつ出会わせ、祈りを通して関係を深めておられることを感じています。
Across Japan, I am seeing leaders in different regions who carry a genuine desire for church planting and for the Gospel to advance in their cities. In existing CTCJ network cities such as Okinawa and Nagoya, I have been able to strengthen existing relationships while also meeting new leaders. In Shizuoka and Saitama, I have begun building relationships with individual leaders and having conversations about church planting and greater connection among leaders in those regions. At the same time, I am observing that although many churches and leaders are faithfully serving in their own places, there is still significant room for greater connection and prayer among leaders within each region. Since August, these relationships have begun to move beyond simply making connections toward intentionally praying together—for church planting, for greater connection among churches and leaders in each region, and for the strengthening of city networks. Much of this is still in its early stages, but I believe God is bringing people together and deepening relationships through prayer across different parts of Japan.
シティ・トゥ・シティ・ジャパン（CTCJ）の存在意義は、そういった、学びたい、つながりたい、協力したいという願いに直接応えるためです。そんな中、私たちが目指すのは、リーダーたちが真の関係を築き、それぞれの地域社会における福音宣教のために備えられるよう、質の高いトレーニングと信頼できる環境を提供することです。
City to City Japan (CTCJ) exists to respond directly to this desire to learn, connect, and collaborate. We seek to provide high-quality training and trusted environments where leaders can form authentic relationships and be equipped for Gospel ministry in their local contexts.
同時に私たちCTCJが目指すのは、こうした取り組みの「顔」になることではありません。むしろ私たちは、神がすでに成し遂げられている働きを支えるためにその舞台裏で奉仕する存在であるという自覚をもっています。そのために不可欠な役割を果たしているのが、私たちの「シティ・カタリスト」です。彼らは、それぞれの都市で神が働いておられる現実に深く献身し、このビジョンを現地の文脈に適用し、福音を中心としたムーブメントを草の根から起こそうとする支援をしています。さらに私たちは現在、「ファミリー・ファースト・ジャパン」をはじめとするいくつかの外部団体とも将来的なパートナーシップの可能性を探るための意図的な対話を始めています。
Our goal is not for CTCJ to become the face of these efforts. Rather, we see ourselves as servants working behind the scenes to support what God is already doing. To that end, our City Catalysts play an indispensable role. They are deeply committed to the work God is doing in their cities, carrying this vision into local contexts and helping cultivate Gospel-centred movements from the ground up. In addition, we have begun intentional conversations with several external organisations, including Family First Japan, to explore future opportunities for partnership.
CTCJは、すでに日本各地で神がなさっていることを見つけ、そこに関係性と祈りを通して参加することによって関わっています。 既存のネットワーク都市では、これまでの関係を継続して深めながら、新しいリーダーとの出会いを探しています。また、まだCTCJのネットワークが十分に形成されていない地域でも、リーダー個人との関係を築き、その地域について知り、祈り始めています。 特に今期は、「人をつなぐ」だけでなく、「ともに祈る」ことを関係性の中心に置き始めたことが大きな変化でした。 CTCJが新しい働きを作り出しているというよりも、神がすでにそれぞれの地域でなさっていることを見つけ、そこにいるリーダーたちと関係を築き、共に祈りながら参加していくことを大切にしています。
CTCJ is participating in what God is doing by recognizing where He is already at work, building relationships with people in those places, and coming alongside them through prayer. In existing network cities, we are strengthening relationships while continuing to identify and connect with new leaders. In areas where the CTCJ network is still developing, we are beginning relationships with individual leaders, listening to what God is doing in their region, and praying with them. One significant development this quarter has been moving beyond simply connecting people toward placing prayer at the center of our relationships. Rather than trying to create something separate or claim the work of others as CTCJ's work, we want to recognize what God is already doing, connect people who share a heart for their city and nation, and come alongside them in prayer and relationship.

沖縄でのリーダー育成と福音の一致
LeaderS Development and Gospel Unity in Okinawa
去る7月、CTC Japanは「Gospel to Okinawa（GTO）」の働きに協力し、沖縄の地でインパクトのある訪問の機会を与えられました。当団体CEOのデイミアン・グレイトリーが沖縄のローカルリーダーたちと共に、「トレイン・ザ・トレーナー（TTT）」セミナーと「インキュベーター」セッションを開催し、地域の宣教リーダーを備える重要な一歩となりました。
Last July, CTC Japan had the privilege of partnering with Gospel to Okinawa (GTO) for a impactful visit to the region. CTC Japan CEO Damian Grateley joined local church leaders in Okinawa to host both a Train the Trainer (TTT) seminar and an Incubator teaching session, marking a key step forward in equipping local ministry leaders.

毎月開催されるGTOコホート集会の前日に実施されたTTTセミナーには、5名が参加しました。その内訳は、4月のトレーナー・セミナー修了者3名、インテンシブ修了生1名、そして今年10月のインテンシブ参加予定者1名です。
Held the day before the monthly GTO cohort gathering, the TTT seminar brought together five targeted participants: three who completed the Train-the-Trainer Seminar in April, one Intensive alumnus, and one incoming attendee for the upcoming October Intensive.
8年目を迎えたGTOにとって、将来の教会開拓者を備え・励ますことのできる地元のトレーナーを育成することは最優先事項です。今回のTTTセッションは、沖縄における持続可能で地域主導のリーダー育成に向けた重要なマイルストーンとなりました。
As GTO enters its eighth year, cultivating indigenous trainers who can equip and encourage future church planters is a top priority. This TTT session represented a vital milestone toward sustainable, locally led leader development in Okinawa.

Deepening Gospel Unity & Prayer
インキュベーター・セッションでは、デイミアンが「祈りの生活」をテーマにメッセージを分かち合いました。参加した28名の牧師や宣教師の皆さんが、幼子のような素直な信頼をもって天の父なる神様の前に出ることの恵みを深める時となりました。このセッションは参加者の心に深い感銘を与え、教派を超えた関係性を強化し、沖縄の宣教現場における協働の精神を育みました。
During the Incubator session, Damian delivered a message on "A Life of Prayer," encouraging 28 local pastors and missionaries to approach God the Father with the simple, honest trust of a child. The session deeply moved participants, strengthening cross-denominational relationships and fostering a spirit of collaboration across Okinawa’s ministry landscape.
教派を超えた福音の一致が深まり、地元のトレーナーが起こされ、最前線で労するリーダーたちが支えられていることを神様に感謝いたします。沖縄の教会に共に投資し、仕え続けていくために、引き続きお祈りに覚えていただければ幸いです！

関東中心部 (Central Tokyo)
少しづつ今まであまり関わりがなかった地域の牧師先生方や宣教団体とのコミュニケーションや関わりが多くなってきていると見ています。必ずしも私たち自ら積極的にコンタクトを取ったからではく、どこかからお互いの働きやまた共通の知り合いからの繋がりにより生まれてきている関係がここ数ヶ月の間で増えています。
I observe that, little by little, we are increasingly communicating and engaging with pastors and missionary organizations in the region with whom we previously had little contact. These growing relationships—which have notably increased over the past few months—have not necessarily arisen from our own proactive outreach; rather, they are emerging through connections involving our respective ministries or mutual acquaintances.
ここ数ヶ月、毎月の牧師たちやリーダーたち集まりの中で、自分が学んできた弟子訓練で為になった要素をお互いにシェアし、学ぶということをしてきました。その中で新しい参加者も増え、全く新しい視点で日本文化や社会の状況に合わせてしているアプローチなどを学んだり、また斬新な考え方をアイデアを学んだりしています。
Over the past few months, during our monthly gatherings of pastors and leaders, we have been sharing and learning from one another about the elements of discipleship training that have proven effective in our own experiences. As the group has grown to include new participants, we have gained insights into approaches tailored to Japanese culture and social conditions from entirely fresh perspectives, while also encountering innovative ideas and ways of thinking.
上記に話し合いの中で、数人の牧師先生方とはCTCのビジョンや価値観を説明したり、福音のエコシステムなどの重要性はその目的に向かってどのように今の集まりを進めていくべきかなどを話しています。
In the course of these discussions, I have been speaking with several pastors about CTC’s vision and values, as well as the importance of concepts like the "Gospel ecosystem" and how we should steer our current gatherings toward that objective.

関東西部 ー神奈川 (Tokyo Metropolitan West - Kanagawa)
神奈川の地域ネットワークでは、今まさに核となるメンバーが集められ、確かな基礎が築かれています。牧師同士が何度も顔を合わせ、深い交わりを通して互いを深く知ることからスタートしたこの取り組み。現在、その核心となるメンバーの輪が着実に広がり始めています。現在は、この親しく温かな「安全なコミュニティ」の輪を広げ、新しい人々を積極的に招き入れる準備を進めています。集いの場では、福音を中心としたセミナーやテーマを提供し、共に学び、励まし合える豊かな時間を共有しています。神様が神奈川で築いておられる新しい結びつきと、これからの広がりのために、ぜひ共にお祈りください！
In Kanagawa, a dedicated core team is taking shape as local pastors meet regularly to build deep, trust-filled relationships. This foundational group is steadily growing into a safe, vibrant fellowship. Looking ahead, the team is preparing to invite new people into this circle of community, using gospel-centered seminars and discussions as a central gathering point to encourage and equip everyone involved.

The Kanagawa Incubator will be able to function as a hub. To this end, it will be provided with the necessary insights—such as seminars, educational materials, and discussion topics—that serve as incentives for people to gather.

置かれた環境が変われば、宣教の戦略も変わる必要があります。40代の時に始まった最初の開拓と、67歳で91歳の義母と同居しながらスタートした2度目の開拓。チーム構成やライフステージが大きく変化する中、インテンシブ・プログラムでの学びを通じて「がむしゃら」なやり方から脱却し、「福音神学」を土台とした宣教デザインへと刷新されていったプロセスを明かします。 環境の変化に合わせたマインドセットの転換と、具体的な宣教戦略の構築について語ります。
When life circumstances shift, your ministry strategy has to shift with it. Planting a church back in his 40s looked vastly different for Pastor Kikuo Irie than planting at 67 with an elderly parent at home. In this clip, the Intensive alumnus reflects on moving away from "hectic hustle" and learning to design ministry starting from Gospel theology. Discover how renewing your perspective and adapting your approach can bring clarity and fresh momentum to a second church plant.
夫婦で協力して教会開拓を進めることは、志を一つにし、神様に仕える方向性を明確にする素晴らしい機会です。また、地域社会にとっても大きな安心感を与えるという強みがあります。 一方で、「夫婦だけの視点」に囚われてしまい、客観的な意見を取り入れにくくなるという難点もあります。 本動画では、City to City Japan インテンシブ・プログラム修了生である入江喜久雄牧師夫妻が、夫婦で開拓を進める上での強みと課題、外部からの客観的な学びの重要性、そしてお互いの役割を尊重しながら歩むチームワークについて実体験を語ります。
Planting a church as a married couple is a powerful experience that aligns a shared vision and clarifies ministry direction. It also offers the local community a strong sense of comfort and stability. However, one subtle risk is falling into a "couples echo chamber" – relying solely on inside perspectives and missing objective input from outside ministry experts. In this video, City to City Japan Intensive alumni Pastor Kikuo Irie and his wife reflect on the unique strengths and challenges of couple-led church planting. They share the value of gaining objective instruction through the Intensive program and discuss how they navigate role balance, mutual respect, and collaborative leadership on the field.

前期に引き続き、名古屋におけるCTCJは、東海地区で主の群れを導く教会リーダーの皆さまに静かに寄り添う歩みを続けています。神様がすでにこの地で始めておられる豊かな御業を受け止めながら、「主の力強い働きの中に、私たちも共に加わらせていただきたい」——そんな祈りと願いを込めて、一歩一歩歩んでいます。
Continuing from the previous term, CTCJ in Nagoya continues to walk alongside the church leaders of the Tokai region, gently coming alongside them. As we observe and embrace the rich work the Lord has already begun in this place, we walk step by step with the prayer and desire, "Lord, allow us to be part of Your mighty work.
今期、複数の教会が力を合わせて開催した「ファミリースポーツフェスティバル」を通して、主は素晴らしい出会いを与えてくださいました。このイベントをきっかけに浜松の牧師とお会いすることができ、共に語り合い、深く祈り合う中で、お互いに大きな励ましと慰めを受けるひとときとなりました。
During this quarter, through a ""Family Sports Festival"" hosted in collaboration across multiple churches, the Lord brought about a wonderful connection. Through this event, I met a pastor from Hamamatsu, and as we shared together and prayed deeply for one another, it became a time of great encouragement and comfort for both of us.
また、月に一度、東海地区の教会リーダーたちが集う「インキュベーター」の学びも恵みに満ちています。３時間にわたる福音を中心とした深い学びとディスカッション、そしてその後に続く温かなランチフェローシップ。共に過ごす時間を通して親睦が深まり、互いのために心から祈り合える関係が築かれていることに、主に深い感謝を捧げます。
We also offer deep thanks to the Lord for the grace filled in the monthly ""Incubator"" gatherings, where church leaders from the Tokai region assemble. Through three hours of deep, gospel-centered learning and discussion, followed by warm lunch fellowship, our fellowship deepens, and relationships where we can genuinely pray for one another are being built.
「名古屋のシティ・カタリストとして、自分にできることは何だろうか」——そう自問することがよくあります。しかし、どのようなときであっても、辿り着くのは「基本に立ち返る」ということです。そしてそれこそが、何よりも大切なことだと実感しています。
I often find myself reflecting, ""What can I do as a City Catalyst in Nagoya?"" Yet, no matter the situation, where I arrive is ""returning to the fundamentals""—and I deeply feel that this is indeed what matters most.
それは、主が親しく召し、この地に立ててくださっている大切なリーダーの方々とお会いし、心を傾けてお話を聞き、共に祈りを合わせることです。
That is to meet with the precious leaders whom the Lord Himself has called and established in this place, to listen to them attentively, and to pray together with them.
私たちが祈るとき、聖霊様が親しく働き、ご介入くださいます。その御手の中に置かれるとき、私たちは大いに励まされ、慰められ、心を新たにされて立ち上がることができます。
As we pray, the Holy Spirit moves personally and intervenes. When we are placed in His hands, we are greatly encouraged, comforted, renewed in heart, and able to stand up again.
たとえ困難や試練の中にあったとしても、主の力強い救いの御力を信頼し、どのような状況でも共に主を認め仰ぎ見るとき、私たちは「福音を中心とした歩み」を共に経験することができます。主はいつでもその恵みを示してくださるお方であり、これからもその約束を注いでくださると信じています。
Even in the midst of hardships or trials, as we trust in the Lord's mighty power to save and acknowledge and look up to Him together in any circumstance, we can experience firsthand a ""gospel-centered life"" together. I believe that the Lord is always the One who reveals His grace, and that He will continue to pour out His promise upon us.
また昨年に続き、5月11日に東海福音フェローシップ（TEF）に服部氏と共に参加する機会が与えられました。東海地域の牧師・リーダーが集い、関係を深めるこの場に参与できたことを感謝しています。災害時にも助け合うことができるよう、日頃から関係を築いていくこの取り組みにおいて、主が教会同士をさらに結び合わせてくださることを期待しています。
Furthermore, following last year, we were given the opportunity to participate in the Tokai Evangelical Fellowship (TEF) on May 11th together with Mr. Hattori. We are grateful to have been able to participate in this event where pastors and leaders from the Tokai region gathered and deepened their relationships. We hope that the Lord will further unite churches in this initiative, which aims to build relationships on a daily basis so that we can help each other in times of disaster.
この地で主が確かに働いておられることを覚え、関わってくださっているすべての方々に感謝します。東海の教会がさらに結び合わされ、福音が広がっていくよう、引き続きお祈りいただければ幸いです。
We remember that the Lord is indeed working in this region, and we are grateful to everyone involved. We would appreciate your continued prayers for the further unity of churches in the Tokai region and the spread of the Gospel.

祈りのお願い Prayer Requests
1: 地域教会の牧師たち、リーダーたちが、聖霊さまによって心を深く探られ、必要な悔い改めに導かれ、励まされ、慰められ、ますます霊と心が刷新されていきますように。
May the pastors and leaders of local churches have their hearts deeply searched by the Holy Spirit, be led to necessary repentance, and receive encouragement and comfort, so that their spirits and minds may be continually renewed.
2: 地域教会の牧師たち、リーダーたちが、福音ムーブメントのビジョンを共に喜び、共に集まり、共に町から町、市から市、県から県への協働を自然にしていくことができますように。
May the pastors and leaders of local churches together rejoice in the vision of the Gospel movement, gather with one accord, and naturally collaborate with one another from town to town, city to city, and prefecture to prefecture.
翻訳 Translation
今期は翻訳を単なる言葉の置き換えではなく、日本の教会のリーダーが福音を深く理解し、宣教の現場で実践するための「道を整える働き」として見るよう導かれています。さらに、成人学習の原則を取り入れたインテンシブのための教材を制作し、神学的に正確で、かつ伝わりやすい日本語を通して、学び手と教え手を支える土台を築いていることを感じさせられています。 This quarter, God is leading me to see translation not simply as transferring words from English into Japanese, but as “preparing the way” for church leaders in Japan to understand the gospel more deeply and put it into practice in their ministry contexts. By developing Intensive materials based on adult learning principles, I am helping build a foundation that supports both learners and trainers through Japanese materials that are theologically accurate and accessible.
昨年から今年にかけて実施した第二回オンライン翻訳コーホートの参加者約10名が、今期、インテンシブ教材の翻訳にボランティアとして関わっています。さらに、3名のボランティア・リードトランスレーターが、継続的に翻訳と資料制作のチェックを担っています。コーホートで蒔かれた種が共同の働きへと育ち、神が一人ひとりの賜物を結び合わせておられることに感謝しています。 About ten participants from the 2nd online translation cohort conducted over the past year have been volunteering this quarter to translate materials for the Intensive. In addition, three volunteer lead translators regularly support the translation and review process. I am grateful to see the seeds planted through the cohort growing into a shared ministry as God brings together each person’s gifts.

次のステップ What's next?
すべての資料が整い、10月11日に始まるインテンシブで実際に用いられることを楽しみにしています。参加者が教材を通して福音と自らの働きについて深く考え、福音による刷新を経験していくプロセスに立ち会えることが、何よりの喜びです。 I am most excited to see all the materials completed and put into use at the Intensive beginning on October 11. I look forward to being present as participants engage deeply with the gospel, reflect on their ministries, and experience gospel renewal.

Please pray that we will be able to complete all the modules carefully in time for the Intensive, especially the five preaching modules being newly developed this quarter.
コーチング Coaching
江崎 公二 | Koji Esaki
第三クォーターでは４月のゴスペル・コーチング・トレーニングに参加した方々による3人一組のグループAとグループBによる演習を７月に６セッション終了することができた。現在は、各自が選んだ方との一対一での６セッションのコーチングを行なっている途中である。
In this quarter, two groups of three gospel coach trainees finished 6 trihort coaching practices in July. They are currently doing one-to-one coaching with their chosen coachee partner. This practice has 6 sessions.
詳しくは話せませんが、コーチングの中で素直に自分の偶像が何かに気づいたこと、そしてそれを悔い改めて自分の態度を変えるように実践しておられることを聞けて嬉しく思いました。
While I cannot share the details, I had a wonderful opportunity to hear one of church planters honestly share the recognition of his own "idol". He repented of it and he has been trying to change his attitude and way of thinking in daily life.

・15コーチングセッションを７名の教会開拓者及び教会リーダーに行った。
・15 coaching sessions for 7 church planters and church leaders in this quarter.
・トライホートコーチング演習を二つのグループで実施し６セッション終了した。
・Two groups of three gospel coach trainees finished 6 trihort coaching practices .
・6人のコーチ候補者は各自が選んだ相手との一対一の６セッションのコーチングを始めた。
・6 coach trainees are currently doing one-to-one coaching practices with their chosen coachees. This practice will be finished by the end of the last quarter.
次のステップ What's next?
10月に教会開拓インテンシブがある。新たに生まれ出る教会開拓者にゴスペルコーチが提供されることを楽しみにしています。
I expect that gospel coaches will be assigned to those who attend the CTCJ church planting intensive in this coming October.
