東京は常に変化が起こる中で、新しい出来事や繋がりができる環境です。そこで多くのエキサイティングなことやアイデアが生まれますが、また生き残るために必死な場所でもあります。特に毎年3月からは仕事を見つけるため、あるいは新しい大学に入るために、多くの学生や社会人が集まってくる時期ですが、同時に東京を離れる人も多く、都内の教会も葛藤する時期でもあります。ここ数年は、東京に長期的なビジョンと献身を持って仕えてくれる使命感を持ったクリスチャンやリーダーたちが必要であると感じています。

Tokyo is an environment of constant change, where new events and connections keep forming. This is where many exciting things and ideas are born, but also where people struggle to survive. Especially in March each year, when many students and working people come to Tokyo to find jobs and enter new school, it is also a time of struggle for the churches in Tokyo, as many people leave the city. We have felt for the past few years that we need mission-minded Christians and leaders who will serve Tokyo with long-term vision and commitment.

東京のある教会員の起業家リーダーが去年のCTCJのインテンシブにオブザーバーとして参加しました。それは、彼が以前から願っていたビジネスを通して神の国に仕えるビジョンが明確に進み始めるきっかけとなりました。彼に与えられたビジョンは、カフェ兼コーワーキングスペースを全国の都市でスタートすることで、新しい教会開拓者たちにその場所を日曜日に提供することで神の国をサポートしたいというものです。その第一号にカフェビジネスが3月1日に東京の吉祥寺でオープンしました。

An entrepreneurial leader of a church member in Tokyo attended last year's CTCJ Intensive as an observer. His vision of serving the Kingdom of God through business, which he had long hoped to do, began to make clear progress. The vision given to him is to support the Kingdom of God by starting café-co-working spaces in cities across the country, offering these places to new church planters on Sundays. The first of these café businesses opened on March 1 in Kichijoji, Tokyo.

興味深いのは、そのようなビジョンのもとに多くの他の教会の若いリーダーたちが賛同したことです。同じくインテンシブに参加していた名古屋の開拓者が紹介してくれた友人がスタッフとして働き始めました。またそこで働く事になった他のスタッフの中には東京の有名焙煎運営に関わるクリスチャンのコーヒーバリスタ、また過去にインテンシブトレーニングを受けたコーヒー豆を焙煎する牧師など、さらに様々なクリスチャンバンドをプロデュースするリーダーも繋がり、共に働くことになりました。彼らは自分の地域教会にコミットしながら、このカフェを通して新しい人々と繋がり伝道をしたいという志を持って参加し始めました。

Interestingly, such a vision has been endorsed by many other young church leaders across the country. One connection came from a planter from Nagoya who had attended the Intensive. A friend of his started working there as a staff member. Among the other staff members who joined were a Christian coffee barista from a well-known roasting operation in Tokyo, a pastor who had received Intensive training and was roasting coffee beans in the past, and a leader who produces various Christian bands. They are committed to their local churches. They came with an ambition to connect with new people and evangelise through the café, while remaining committed to their local churches.

そしてまたCTCJに既に長年繋がりのある教会が、そのカフェの場所を、日曜日の礼拝の新しいキャンパスとして今年中にスタートすることになりました。このように、福音そしてコーヒーという共通点を通して、教会の壁を超えた繋がりと協力関係が少しづつ形成されています。それだけではなく、多くのクリスチャンビジネスマンたちにもインスピレーションが与えられ、それぞれの地域で似たような働きが起こされようとしているように感じます。

Another church with a long-standing connection to CTCJ will be starting a new campus this year, using the café as a place to hold Sunday services. In this way, through the commonality of the gospel and coffee, connections and partnerships are gradually being formed beyond the walls of the churches. Not only that, but many Christian business people have also been inspired and feel that similar work can take place in their respective areas.

関東西部 ー神奈川 (Tokyo Metropolitan West - Kanagawa)

神奈川は人口約380万人の港町横浜が経済や観光の中心として有名です。しかし、神奈川には山岳中心の市も多くあり、また19の市の中で人口5万人以下の市も3つもあります。このように神奈川は様々な側面を持っていて、私たちにとっても、神奈川についてまだまだ新しく知ることがたくさんありそうです。神奈川では、昨年度最後の四半期には神奈川インキュベーターがスタートし、新しいコミュニティが始まりました。ただ実感としては、まだ表面的な交流にとどまっているといったところでしょうか。この四半期から、神奈川にいるメンバーがお互いに知識や表面的な情報交換に留まらず、福音を中心にする故に、より深い関係になれる事を願っています。
Kanagawa is famous for its port city Yokohama, with a population of approximately 3.8 million, which is the economic and tourist centre of the city. However, Kanagawa is also home to a number of mountain areas, and 3 of its 19 cities have populations of less than 50,000. Thus, Kanagawa has many facets and we have many new possibilities to learn about it. In Kanagawa, the last quarter saw the start of a new community with the Kanagawa Incubator. From this quarter, we hope that the members in Kanagawa will be able to get to know each other more deeply, not only in terms of knowledge and superficial information but also coming from our shared DNA in the gospel.

日本において福音中心の新しい関係が出来るように祈っている中で、こんな事が続けてありました。ある次世代宣教の超教派のイベントで知り合った方は、後で福音中心の教会で奉仕をしているメンバーだとわかりました。別のイベントに参加して知り合ったのは、福音中心とは何かを知りたいと求めていた方々でした。そのうちの数人がインキュベーターに参加してくれるようになりました。また地域の牧師会で、これからの宣教に悩みを持っていた宣教師に出会い悩みを聞いていくうちに、福音中心に関心を持った彼はインキュベーターに参加し、そこから励まされています。新しく神奈川に来た宣教師は、インキュベーターに参加して、そこで出会った牧師が以前いた場所で親しくしていた牧師と仲の良い牧師であることを知り、共通の友人がいた事から親しみが増しています。神様は神奈川の中でより多くの親しい関係が出来るように働いて下さっています。
As we are praying for gospel-centred relationships in Japan, God continues to lead us to the right people. One person at a Next Generation Missions interdenominational event told us he was serving in a Gospel-centred church. When attending another event, people were seeking to know more about Gospel-centred church planting. Some of these people eventually became participants in our Incubator. At a local pastors' meeting, we met a missionary who was concerned about his future ministry, and after listening to his concerns, he joined our incubator. Newly arrived missionaries in Kanagawa have become more familiar with the local pastors after attending the Incubator. God is working in Kanagawa to establish closer relationships amongst the local pastors and missionaries

関東東部 ー 千葉 (Tokyo Metropolitan East - Chiba)

私たちがフォーカスしている千葉市は東京へのアクセスも良く、また電車で数駅進むと、田舎の風景を見ることもできます。千葉に住む人たちの基本的な特徴しては、どちらの方向、つまり都会あるいは田舎に行くにもアクセスが良く、この場所で生活していくことにある程度満足している人たちです。その中でより健全で安全なコミュニティに自身の身を置く事はとても重要なことであるといえます。私たちが福音を基盤としたコミュニティを提供したいと願っているのはそのためです。最近は古い建物が取り壊され、新しくマンションや商業施設が建てられ、新たな人の流れが見られます。都市そのものが生き物のように成長しているので、私たちはそこにいつでも健全で安全なコミュニティを求めている人たちを探しアプローチしていきたいと願っています。

Chiba City has good access to Tokyo, and if you take a few train stops, you can see the countryside. The basic characteristic of people living in Chiba is that they have good access to either the city or the countryside, and they are relatively satisfied with living here. In this context, it is very important to place themselves in a healthier and safer community. That is why we want to provide a gospel-based community. Recently, old buildings have been demolished, and new apartments and commercial facilities have been built, bringing with them a new flow of people. As the city itself is growing like a living organism, we hope to find and approach people who are always looking for a healthy and safe community here.

自分たちの教会の話になりますが、月に1回ゴミ拾いのボランティアをしています。それほど目立った活動ではないので、あまり周知される事は無いであろうと思っていましたが、先日立ち寄ったお弁当屋さんで教会の名前を告げると、いつも掃除をしてくれてありがとうございますと声をかけられました。直接福音に結びつくわけではありませんが、コミュニティの中に教会があるということを知ってもらうためには、このような活動を長く続けていくことが大事であると確認しました。

Talking about our own church, we volunteer once a month to pick up litter. When I mentioned the name of our church at a bento shop I stopped at the other day, I was approached by someone who thanked me for always cleaning up. Although not directly linked to the gospel, I learned that it is important to continue such activities for a long time in order for people to know that there is a church in the community.

これは1つの教会の取り組みですが、最終的には千葉市全体に、より大きな影響を与えることができるようになりたいと考えています。そのためには、地元の教会と協力する必要があります。

This is a one-church initiative, but we hope that eventually we will be able to make a bigger impact on Chiba as a larger community. To do this, we need to cooperate with the local churches.

名古屋 (Nagoya)

東京と大阪の間に位置する名古屋は、可能性に満ちた都市であるにもかかわらず、見過ごされがちです。トヨタ自動車の本拠地であり、陶磁器や木工などの伝統工芸の中心地でもあります。
Situated between Tokyo and Osaka, Nagoya is a city rich with potential, yet it is often overlooked. Renowned for its innovation, the city is home to Toyota and is a centre for traditional crafts like ceramics and woodworking.

今期、神様は名古屋が霊的刷新と協力のための豊かな土地であることを示してくださいました。名古屋や三重、京都の様々な背景を持つ牧師たちがインキュベーター・セッションに集い、経験を分かち合い、新鮮な学びの機会を通して互いのミニストリーを豊かにしています。また、City to City Japanと長い付き合いのある教会が、トレーニングのためにチームを連れてきて、互いに学び合おうとしているのを目の当たりにしています。教会開拓がチームを訓練し、そのチームが実践的なプロジェクトに取り組む準備ができ、それぞれの教会に戻っていくのを見るのは喜びです。神は名古屋で働かれ、神の目的を追求するために多様なコミュニティのタペストリーを織りなしておられるかのようです。
This quarter, God has led us to see Nagoya as fertile ground for spiritual renewal and collaboration. Pastors from various backgrounds within Nagoya, as well as from Mie and Kyoto, are coming together at our Incubator sessions, enriching one another's ministries through shared experiences and fresh learning opportunities. We are witnessing churches long associated with City to City Japan bringing their teams for training, eager to learn from one another. It is a joy to help church planters equip their teams and then see those teams return to their congregations ready to implement practical projects. God is at work in Nagoya, weaving together a diverse tapestry of communities in pursuit of His purpose.

大阪 (Osaka)

ジャステン・ルセロ | Justin Lucero

大阪は、ユニークであることを誇りとするにぎやかな都市です。使われるのは大阪弁や関西弁、エスカレーターでは右側に立ち、左側を歩きます。「日本の台所」と呼ばれる美味しい食べ物と、ユーモアのセンスで知られています。大阪の人たちは感情や感覚をオープンにしていて、近所の道を歩いていても笑顔やお辞儀をしてくれます。道端や公園で、おじいちゃんやおばあちゃんが小さなスナックやお菓子を取り出して知らない子供にも渡しているのを見かけたとしても驚くようなことではありません。

Osaka is a bustling city that prides itself in being unique. We use Osaka-ben or Kansai-ben dialect, stand on the right side of the escalators and walk up on the left while the rest of the country does the opposite. We are known for our delicious food - "Japan's Kitchen" and crazy sense of humor. Osaka people are more open with their feelings and emotions, giving you a smile or a bow as you walk along the neighborhood streets. Don't be surprised if you see grandmas and grandpas taking out little snacks and treats and handing it random kids on the street or at the park.

今期は、市内の教会や宣教団体が互いに祈り合い、助けが必要な時には手を差し伸べるという愛が深まっているのを感じました。福音はここにしっかりと根付くことが出来るでしょう。人々は、たとえ小さく取るに足らないように見えるものであっても、真のつながりを切望しているからです。

This quarter we've seen a growing love amongst churches and mission organizations in the city, praying for one another and sending help when it's needed. The gospel can really take root here as people long for real connections even in the small and seemingly insignificant ways.

2ヶ所の組織と教会から新たに派遣されたチームが、ちょうど私たちの街に到着したところです。私たちは、そのチームを既存の宣教活動と連携させ、住宅の確保、銀行口座の開設、政府への教会開拓の登録など、複雑な手続きを支援しています。各人が独自の貢献と専門知識を提供し、より健全な教会が立ち上げられ、互いに協力し合えるよう努めています。

With 2 new missionary units from 2 different organizations and churches just arriving in our city, we have been getting them connected with existing ministries and helping them to navigate the intricacies of getting housing, setting up bank accounts, and registering their church plants with the government. Each person offering their own unique contribution and expertise to see more healthy churches planted and connected with one another.

これは、私たちの毎月の集会で現れている文化的変化の成果でもあります。この変化は、神の国とチームとしての考え方を育むんでいます。教会や宣教団体が教派の壁を越えて互いに愛し、支え合うことを学んでいるように、大阪インキュベーターでも同じことが起こっています。私たちは異なる教派や神学的な背景を持っていますが、福音中心で、かつ福音を土台とした働きを望んでいます。

This is partly a result of and a cultural shift that is happening at our monthly gatherings that helps to foster a kingdom and team mindset. As churches and mission organizations are learning to love and support one another across tribal lines, we are also witnessing this at the Osaka Incubator. We are from different denominational and/or theological backgrounds but all desire gospel-centered and gospel-shaped ministries.

Gospel to Okinawa (GTO)

実は沖縄は新しく開拓された教会が多くはありません。また日本全国の教会と同様に教会メンバーの高齢化が進んでいます。教会刷新と新しく開拓される教会が必要です。そのためにCTCJと協力し、そのコンテンツを用いながら現地の牧師や教会開拓者でおよそ月に一回の頻度で福音中心の学びや分かち合いの時を持っています。また、今後は沖縄で教会開拓者を支援するプログラムも計画しています。

There are not many new churches planted in Okinawa. In addition, as in the rest of Japan, many churches are aging. There is a need for church renewal and new churches to be planted. For this purpose, we are cooperating with CTCJ and using their content to hold gospel-centered studies and sharing sessions with local pastors and church planters about once a month. We are also planning a program to support church planters in Okinawa in the future.

数年前に教会を任された30代の若い牧師は、教会における働きにおいて分かち合う牧師の仲間がいませんでした。しかし、GTOのチラシを見てGTOに参加したことで、福音の中心の教会形成を学び、共に分かち合う仲間が出来ました。彼は「イエスに出会ったことが私の人生を変えた最も大きな出来事でしたが、その次がGTOに出会えたことです。GTOに出会えたことは人生のハイライトです！」と語ってくれました。GTOの働きは、沖縄の牧会者や開拓者をサポートするものです。

A few years ago, a young pastor in his 30s was appointed to a church and had no fellow pastors to share in the work of the church. However, when he saw the GTO flyer and joined the GTO, he learned about gospel-centered church formation and found friends to share with. He said, “Meeting Jesus was the biggest thing that changed my life, but second to that was meeting the GTO.” The work of the GTO supports pastors and planters in Okinawa.
